What starts as a way to get from one place to another can sometimes become part of everyday life. For Wallke rider Dusty Roads, his first H9 AWD carried him to work, survived thousands of miles, disappeared for more than a month after being stolen, came back damaged — and still found its way back onto the road.
Starting My Journey with the Wallke H9 AWD
My journey with Wallke started in March 2025 with the H9 60Ah AWD. Before buying it, I compared specifications, read reviews and spent time watching YouTube videos to understand what I was getting.
At the time, the purchase came to almost $2,000, along with a two-year extended warranty and $200 shipping. About two weeks later, the bike arrived.
This was my first e-bike, so assembly took me a few hours with the manual and some help from YouTube. As I went over the bike in detail, the first thing that struck me was its size and solid construction. It was huge compared with what I had expected.
Then came the first ride. That was when I knew I had picked the right bike for me.
“After that first ride, I knew I picked the right bike.”
Throughout that summer, the H9 became part of my everyday routine. I rode it to work and used it for trips beyond my normal commute.
With my 60Ah configuration, I sometimes saw more than 100 miles from a charge depending on how I rode. That figure reflects my own riding experience and conditions rather than an official range specification.

1,700 Miles and My First Flat Tyre
It took around 1,700 miles before I had my first flat tyre.
By then the H9 was no longer something new sitting in the garage. It was a bike I had already relied on for months. But what happened next was much bigger than dealing with a flat.
My H9 Was Stolen — Then Found More Than a Month Later
In October, my H9 was stolen.
More than a month later, it was recovered after being found abandoned near railroad tracks. The bike had been left under about an inch of snow.
It would still power on, but it had clearly been through a lot. Both brake levers were broken, the rear brake caliper was gone and the throttle was damaged.
I replaced the brake levers, brake lines and calipers. Once the repairs were complete and the bike was safe to ride again, it went back into service.
Today, with more than 2,400 miles behind it, the H9 is still running. Its role has changed, though. I now think of it mainly as my work bike, including for hauling my pet cargo trailer.
“After 2,400 miles, it’s still humming strong.”
Living with AWD Wasn’t Perfect
My experience with the H9 AWD also had a learning curve, and I don’t want to leave that part out of the story.
Early on, I crashed within my first 20 miles while riding on wet roads after rain and taking a sharp corner. I had other falls later as well.
For me, the H9 felt difficult to handle and very abrupt when riding in AWD mode. Because of that, I spent most of my time using the rear wheel rather than AWD.
That is my personal experience rather than a statement about how every rider will find the bike. Rider experience can vary significantly with speed, road surface, tyres, riding technique, weather and bike setup.
Why I Bought a Second Wallke
Over the winter of 2026, I started thinking about getting another bike.
The simple explanation was that two Wallkes sounded better than one.
I had seen the newer H7 Ultra with its larger rear motor and power-station-style battery concept, and it caught my attention. I started saving for it.
On February 11, 2026, I was unboxing my second Wallke: the H7 Ultra.
“This beige beauty was worth every penny.”
The H7 has been a very different experience from my first bike. At nearly 1,500 miles, I haven’t had a crash on it.
I still have both bikes, but each now has its own place in my routine. The older H9 has become the workhorse, while the H7 gave me a different kind of riding experience.
More Than a Bike in the Garage
Owning two Wallke bikes has also introduced me to a larger community.
I’m a member of the Wallke E-Bike Owners Facebook group, and for me that online community has become part of the ownership experience. Riders share stories, ask questions and help one another.
After thousands of miles, everyday commuting, a theft, repairs, a second bike and a lot of time on the road, my relationship with these bikes is difficult to describe purely in specifications.
The bike sitting in my garage isn’t just another piece of equipment to me.
